Principles of solid body mechanics


Systematically summarized booklet of around 250 examples
In this reference book ideas are collected to solve solid body mechanic issues. All examples were analysed in FEM and the shift during the simulation are shown in pictures. In some examples the principle of "force addition" by parallel shifting of the elements and the principle of "line addition" is used to enlargen the way.

Subsequently both principles are combined to achieve more way while simultanously achieving more force. The solid body spring is always the used model with different spring characteristics and the different types tension spring, pressure spring, flexible spring or torsion spring.


In micromechanics solid body mechanics are more often used due to the less available installation space and the modern precise production methods like form acid etching, lasercutting or -melting, which allow sophisticated and filigree parts.


    • The design of the solid body mechanics was investigated with linear FEM in CAD and the results are shown.

    • In 2D meander forms were developed and optimized and the changeovers were designed and analysed as mathematic curves. Simple joints as well as complex film joints are shown in standalone and combined bodies.

    • In 3D around 100 pictures are shown and interpreted. Those are chosen from patent researchs and developed from our own designs.

    • It is shown how in 2D as well as in 3D moveable mechnisms can be replaced by film joints.
